Funded by USAID through Education Development Centre (EDC), USA, WBL is implementing first ever training for high school drop out youths on fresh water prawn hatchery technology. Known as Golda in Bangladesh, fresh water prawn is one of the leading export items to EU and North American countries. With nearly one hundred new hatcheries developed in the recent years, Bangladesh urgently needed golda hatchery technicians to run these hatcheries complying with international standards. BYEP will train 360 youths (including female trainees for the first time) to become technicians through a 70 daylong residential training course organized in collaboration with Shiblee Hatchery & Farms Ltd (SHFL) in its hatchery complex in a southern sea resort island called Kuakata. .
